San Marcos Fire Department

At the San Marcos Fire Department, our mission has always been to serve and protect our community with excellence, compassion, and professionalism. As our city continues to grow and evolve, so must the tools and technology we use to ensure your safety. That’s why we’re proud to introduce First Due Community Connect - a new, secure, and innovative platform designed to strengthen our emergency response and keep you and your loved ones safer than ever before.

What is First Due Community Connect?

First Due Community Connect is a secure online portal that allows residents and business owners in San Marcos to voluntarily share critical information about their household or property with the San Marcos Fire Department. This includes details such as who lives in the home, if there are individuals with mobility challenges or medical needs, whether pets are present, gate codes or access instructions, and more.

For businesses and commercial properties, owners can provide building layouts, contact information, occupancy details, and any specific hazards first responders should be aware of during an emergency.

Why is this important?

When an emergency happens - whether it’s a fire, medical call, or other crisis - every second counts. Having access to accurate, up-to-date information about your home or business before we arrive helps us respond more effectively and safely. It allows us to tailor our response to your specific needs, protect your property more efficiently, and potentially save lives.

For example, knowing that an elderly resident may have limited mobility or that a child with autism lives in the home can dramatically change how we approach a situation. It helps us provide the right care, anticipate challenges, and deliver a higher level of service when it matters most.

Your Information is Safe

We understand that privacy is important. That’s why all information shared through First Due Community Connect is kept secure and is only accessible to first responders during an emergency. Participation is completely voluntary, but we strongly encourage all residents and business owners to take a few minutes to register and provide any helpful details.

Signing up is quick and easy. Visit our website to create your secure profile and help us help you.

Thank you for trusting us to serve you. By working together and using tools like First Due Community Connect, we can build a safer, more connected San Marcos for everyone.

Sincerely,

Agency, we are here to ensure we do whatever it takes to protect you and your family. However, there are many valuable pieces of critical information that can help save lives and property that we don’t know until we arrive. Things like how many occupants to expect at your home, whether anyone has access or functional needs or speaks another language, if you have any livestock, where the bedrooms are located, or even where hazardous materials may be found.

But now, with Community Connect, you have the power to keep us informed of nearly everything that matters so we can better serve you in an emergency. Community Connect is a safe and secure online program available at no cost to all residents. It allows you to provide us with critical property information that we can access during a response.

What are some examples of the kind of information you can contribute? You can provide details about:

Family members who live at your residence.

Where your family members are located.

Features of your home, such as a pool.

Utilities like water and electricity.

Functional mobility needs, including Alzheimer’s, autism, severe visual impairments, and pets.

No matter what happens, your family members' needs are known. Signing up is easy from any internet-enabled device using your phone number or email address. Rest assured, all of your data is safe and available for our responders during an emergency. If you have five minutes, please select your profile and get started helping your first responders help you.

What kinds of information can I provide?

Any information you provide through Community Connect is completely voluntary and based on what you are comfortable sharing. We have made it easy for you to know what may be important by organizing your secure portal into buckets of information you can enter.
