Fire prevention is the foundation of a safe and resilient community. While we stand ready to respond when emergencies occur, our highest aim is to prevent those emergencies from happening at all.
Community Risk Reduction (CRR) is the proactive process of identifying potential hazards before they lead to loss. This includes conducting thorough inspections of buildings, enforcing fire code compliance, educating our youth on fire safety practices, and working hand-in-hand with our neighbors to mitigate risks that threaten lives and property. Much of this work is done quietly and without recognition—but its impact is substantial and enduring.
At the Ozark Fire Protection District, we are continually seeking new ways to better serve our citizens. One of the most forward-thinking programs we are implementing is Community Connect—a free, secure, and user-friendly platform that allows residents to voluntarily share vital information about their households. This may include details about family members, pets, medical conditions, or access points to the property. In an emergency, this information can empower our first responders to act swiftly and decisively, potentially saving lives when every second matters.
I am proud of the initiatives our team is undertaking and grateful to serve a community that values preparedness and cooperation. I encourage every resident to participate in this effort. Together, through prevention, education, and engagement, we are building a safer, stronger Ozark.
